I’m excited for Action for Happiness’ new theme: New Things November based on the key Trying Out: Keep learning new things:
“Learning affects our well-being in lots of positive ways. It exposes us to new ideas and helps us stay curious and engaged. It also gives us a sense of accomplishment and helps boost our self-confidence and resilience.
“There are many ways to learn new things – not just through formal qualifications. We can share a skill with friends, join a club, learn to sing, play a new sport and so much more.”
Experiencing new things are awesome, but it’s also hard for me because it means getting out of my comfort zone, and I love my comfort zone. Who doesn’t? But if I didn’t get out of my comfort zone, I never would’ve gone to Ireland or England or explored Boston or found a job that I love. So yeah, trying new things is necessary.
Put yourself out there and discover your new passion. Start by writing a list of new things you can try this month. It’s November and the month of Thanksgiving, so maybe start out with a new Thanksgiving recipe. Me? I’ll be creating a delicious turkey rub and unique (and decadent) autumny cheesecake. Last year was a spiced apple cheesecake. Let’s see if I can top that.
