“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Friends, it’s been a beautiful journey Lighting the World (with Lizzy) this Christmas season. I’ve been amazed by the massive number of people who have chosen to serve others, the multitudes of #LightTheWorld on social media. If we can do so much good in one month, what could we do the entire year?
I believe that we each one of us has a unique way to offer light to the world. We can make our little corner of it just a little bit better one small step at a time. What can you do?
- Use your talents to serve others. For me, that’s this blog.
- Take each day of Light the World and spread it out over the entire year (about two weeks per day).
- Donate regularly to a charity in which you believe (such as LDS Philanthropies, Water.org, Goodwill, and these refugee and immigrant charities).
- Learn about Jesus (and then emulate Him).
Whatever you choose to do, do it with your entire soul. You don’t need to change the whole world; just change one part: yourself, your heart. Change yourself, shine your light, and that fire will illuminate all those around you. That fire will set your corner of the world ablaze. Start small and good things will follow.
Light the World. Choose Joy.
