Little Moments of Joy

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how to spread a bit of joy and happiness to others. More often than not, happiness comes in little starts here and there, little moments in time that illuminate your heart like a candle in darkness. So based on this (and a post I saw on a friend’s Facebook page), here’s a list of those little moments that bring a smile to my—and hopefully your—face:

Little Moments of Joy:

  1. Watching a hedgehog explore nature
  2. A stranger opening a door for you
  3. A clean kitchen
  4. Reading the best parts in your favorite book
  5. An early morning run
  6. Listening to a child’s laughter
  7. Watching green things grow
  8. Kicking off a pair of shoes after a long day
  9. A whiff of fresh basil
  10. The smell of freshly baked pumpkin bread (regardless of the season)

Now it’s your turn. What are those little things that bring a spark of pure joy to your heart? What turns a hard day into something a little more bearable? What brings your sun out of the clouds in your life, if only for a brief moment? There are reasons for happiness everywhere.
