I said just yesterday that I wouldn’t blog on Sundays unless I felt so inspired…and here I am, feeling inspired! Today was LDS General Conference, and as I was listening to (and taking notes of) those things that men and women of God were telling us, I was struck by the themes in the talks. They weren’t delving into deep doctrine or broaching current issues (not that I’m surprised); they were going back to basics, those spiritual “little” things, small things, that form our spiritual habits and souls and characters:
- Spiritual self-reliance
- Unity
- Pure love
- Endure to the end
- Spiritual inspiration
- Small spiritual things
- Personal revelation
In the end, it all comes down to these basics. It comes down to love and charity, daily prayer and scripture study, staying close to the Spirit of God. With these small things in our bag of tricks, we can do anything, help anybody, make this world better. We don’t need to overcomplicate it. Whether speaking spiritually or emotionally or physically, focus on the small, little, everyday things. Those are what form your character and habits. They bring happiness and joy.
