Salt Lake City Library

I know I’ve been MIA for a while here. In my defense, I’ve been elbow deep in final papers and projects. Now that that’s done—knuckle crack—I can get down to business. I haven’t had a ton of leisure reading lately, but I have recently ventured to the Salt Lake City Public Library for the very first time. The point was to have a new place to study. Instead, I spent the entire time exploring, and then got to class late.

library2.jpgI thought the library would just be a big library. But it’s so much more! There’s a cafe—and other artsy shops—on the first floor, sort of like a covered courtyard with the library on all sides. It’s several floors and patrons can even climb up to the roof, where there is seating, flowers, and a look out point. The architecture could be best described as modern, but it’s not cold and sterile. It’s beautiful and functional and fantastic.

While I was there, I grabbed a library events pamphlet and was pleased to see that Jessica Day George is going to be talking about her latest children’s book on May 9. I love her writing. If anybody wants to go, let me know.
